FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program
All types of accounts at Points West Community Bank are guaranteed up to $250,000 by the FDIC until December 31, 2013. Recently, the FDIC introduced the Transaction Account Guarantee Program for optional enrollment by banks. If a bank enrolled, this program would provide additional FDIC insurance, on non-interest bearing accouts only, on amounts over $250,000. This program was designed to protect certain large corporations or businesses that need to keep over $250,000 in a non-interest bearing account for purposes such as payroll. Points West Community Bank's analysis of our current customer base determined there was not a need for this coverage, therefore we did not enroll.
